Reclaimed wood mantels are where a single beam carries the whole room. Every mantel we build is a solid piece of genuine 1800s barn timber — look at the end and you’ll see the end grain running through it, because there’s nothing hollow to hide. The axe marks, nail holes, and patina arrive with it.

Every Beechcreek mantel is cut from a single antique timber — hand-hewn faces, genuine patina, wood that stood in a barn for generations before it reaches your hearth. No two are alike, because no two barns were.
Tell us your dimensions and the look you’re after — rustic axe-hewn texture or a cleaner resawn face — and we’ll match you to timber currently in the shop.

Solid mantel or box beam mantel — how do I choose?
Solid is the genuine full timber: heavier, with the mass you can feel, and it wants solid anchoring. A box beam mantel reads the same from across the room, weighs a fraction as much, and mounts far easier. If your fireplace wall or mounting situation is uncertain, box beam is usually the safer call — send a photo and we’ll tell you straight.
How do solid mantels mount?
Solid timber has real weight, so it wants real anchoring — typically lag bolts or threaded rod into studs or masonry, set by your installer. Tell us your fireplace situation with your quote and we’ll advise on what the mantel needs.
Can my mantel match my box beams?
Yes — same barns, same stock, same finishing. Order them together and we’ll pull material so the ceiling and the fireplace tell one story.
Mantel Sizes We Offer
Mantels are cut from solid timber to your opening. These are the sizes we build most often — if yours isn’t here, ask.
- Widths: 4″, 6″, 8″, 10″ and 12″
- Heights: 4″, 6″, 8″, 10″, 12″, 14″ and 16″
- Lengths: up to 12 feet as standard
- Species: hand hewn mixed hardwood, hand hewn pine, hand hewn white oak, and resawn white oak
On rectangular mantels. When a hand hewn mantel isn’t square — a 6×10, for example — one face is sawmill-cut from a square timber rather than hand hewn. Most customers put that face up, which gives you a flat surface for decor, and sanding with polyurethane blends it into the original patina. Resawn white oak is sawn on all four sides by design, so it doesn’t apply there. We confirm this with you before anything is cut.
Sanding and polyurethane are available as add-ons.
