✦ Reclaimed Barnwood Flooring — Engineered

Barn Siding Oak, Planed Just Enough

Reclaimed red and white oak from old barns and tobacco sheds, skip-planed so the saw marks and weathering stay in. Engineered for stability, shipped nationwide from Auburn, Georgia.

This skip-planed reclaimed barnwood flooring is milled from the siding and timbers of old barns, tobacco barns, and outbuildings across the country’s farm belt. The oak is a natural mix of red and white, and it spent generations taking sun, rain, and work before it came down.

Skip-planing runs the board through the planer lightly. High spots get smoothed for a flat, walkable surface, while the low spots keep their old saw marks, patina, and color. The result is a floor that looks like barn wood because it is barn wood, with a reclaimed oak wear layer bonded to a stable Baltic birch backing.

Every board is one of a kind. Expect natural variation in color and grain, plus knots and old nail marks — that’s the wood’s history, not a defect.

Installing Reclaimed Oak Flooring

We supply the flooring; your flooring contractor or an experienced DIYer handles the install. Let the boards acclimate in the room for several days before installing, with the HVAC running at normal living conditions, and follow standard hardwood flooring practice for subfloor prep and moisture testing. Random lengths install like any tongue-and-groove floor — stagger the end joints and pull boards from several boxes as you go so color mixes evenly.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does skip-planed mean?

The boards are planed lightly, so the high spots come out flat and smooth while the low spots keep their original saw marks, weathering, and color. You get a floor you can walk on barefoot that still looks like barn wood.

Engineered boards move less with changes in humidity. That makes them the safer choice over concrete slabs, in basements, and over radiant heat. The top layer is still real reclaimed oak.

Yes. It comes in mixed widths, either 4–6″ or 7″ and up. Mixed widths are a big part of the old farmhouse look.
